San Valentino
Flowers and stunning views of Lake Garda in summer, skiing for everyone in a family friendly ski area
San Valentino in the garden of Baldo is an excellent starting point for walks dedicated to discovering and observing nature.
Its rich variety of plants and flowers is what mainly attracts researchers as well as simple admirers and symbolizes the beauty and prestige of this gorgeous area.
On the way to Passo di San Valentino you can see some stone bastions that were used as a military shelter and observatory during the Fisrt World War. This pass is also a good starting point for excursions along the so-called "sentér de le vipere" (vipers’ path), which leads to Fos-Ce refuge, run by local Sezione SAT. There you can access the remarkable Bes-Cornapiana Nature Reserve and reach Monte Altissimo, a superb viewpoint on Lake Garda and the surrounding mountains.
The ski area offers a good carousel of slopes connecting with those of Polsa. They are wide, fun, equally suitable for the safe and quick learning of basic skiing techniques, for the honing of already acquired skills or for athlete training.
Accommodation is offered by a varied range of hotels, apartment houses or private homes as well as a by a well organized camping site open also during the winter season.
Along the road that leads to San Valentino Pass, travellers can still see the rock bastions used during WWI as military shelter and observatory.
