Monte Baldo Local Nature Park
A real treasure trove of biodiversity
- Visit the Colombo cave in Mori
- Excursion to Rifugio Telegrafo
- Visit the old Zeni mill in Brentonico
Monte Baldo has a double nature, influenced on one side by the mild climate of the Lake, and the rigours of the continental climate of the Valley on the other side. With its "different identities", it is a true treasure-trove of biodiversity, reminiscent of past natural events and attentive custodian of natural peculiarities.
Whether you are skiers, photographers, explorers or mere admirers of nature, Monte Baldo has a special surprise in store for everyone. Skiing slopes, a thick network of paths that climb up the forested mountain sides, and numerous tracks for biking enthusiasts. All you need is to choose the right means by which to discover the many and precious natural secrets that these mountains guard jealously.
A fossil history reaching back millions of years is set among the limestone rocks. Rare flowers, some of which are exclusive to the Baldo, like the delicate Callianthemum kernerianum (Kerner buttercup), or the Gypsophila papillosa, known as the Garda bride's veil, bring meadows and screes to life in Spring. Old beech forests, larches, maples, chestnuts and limes: soft green in Spring, firy in Autumn, are the secret hideout of eagles and owls, deer, marmots, foxes, and many other animals.
