BLOCK3 - Rovereto
A passion for climbing, combined with a generous dose of tenacity, are what helped Alberto and Michele, two young entrepreneurs from Rovereto, to make their dream come true and establish the indoor climbing gym Block3 in their home town. The centre immediately caught the public’s attention, both for its innovative style and the concept behind it: besides the climbing, the gym purposely acts as a meeting point both for families and climbing enthusiasts. Indeed, this structure represents the perfect mix of youth club and climbing gym, giving people the chance to meet and maybe try climbing for the first time or simply hone their skills, in an efficient and well-managed bouldering area. The staff are extremely attentive to the setting of the routes, of varying grades and difficulties, and have managed to exclude the possibility of “losing your way”: indeed, as you make your way up the colourful walls, all you need to do is follow the holds of the same colour, placed meticulously, to reach the end of the chosen route, testing your skills and techniques.
The chance for climbing enthusiasts to meet up and maybe decide on the coming weekend’s climbing trip, is the other fantastic aspect of Block3. With its small yet very functional rest area (complete with minibar and coffee machine), it has become the ideal place to meet up and maybe make new friends. Furthermore, to make things that bit easier for parents, there’s a children’s area with games and small tables in a “strategic” position, easily monitored from every angle of the climbing gym. This idea stems from the conviction that children have special needs and quite often need to take a break from their climbing and concentrate on something else. Upstairs, in what could be defined as a loft, there’s a small gym for warm-up exercises and a relaxation zone with dressing rooms.
