Civezzano-Santa Colomba
Santa Colomba, a lake blessed for the freshness of its woods and the beauty of its waters
The Alpine lake Santa Colomba (926 m above sea level, previously known as the Lago Santo) is located just a few kilometres away from Trento, at the foot of Monte Calisio on the road which connects Civizzano to Albiano. This charming body of water is surrounded by striking pine woods and is populated by several different species of fish. The area attracts many fishermen as well as excursionists - both on foot and with mountain bikes - who come to explore the beautiful, wild paths which cut across the Col Conta plateau or skirt the Fersina river.
The area is part of the Ecomuseo dell'Argentario (Mount Calisio) and features several significant historical attractions, including traces of the passage of hunters along a trail known as the Mesotrekking today. Special mention must also be made of the remains of the ancient shafts (canopi=Bergknappen) used by German miners to extract silver in the Middle Ages.
