Pergine Valsugana
Pergine Valsugana, between tradition and modernity
Pergine Valsugana is an active Renaissance town of historical interest located just a few kilometres away from Trento. As the capital of the Alta Valsugana area, it has become a populous town, host to an ample selection of shops and traditional stores.
Overlooked by the ancient towers of its medieval castle, Pergine is an excellent starting-point for hikes around the area, as well as for a range of different sports, from golf to dragon boating (ancient Chinese boat which has become part of the local sports). The wide array of activities on offer here attracts people who love culture, nature, sports and entertainment (almost thirty years after its beginning, Pergine Spettacolo Aperto still remains one of the most innovative events to be held).
Striking views can be spotted in the centre, such as the Via Maier - one of the most stunning Renaissance districts of the town, full of artistic features ranging from noble houses to antique churches. The town is surrounded by hills, soft fruit plantations and lakes: Pudro, Madrano and Canzolino, as well as Caldonazzo and Levico, the biggest ones.
Pergine Valsugana is just few kilometres away from the Valle dei Mocheni, a valley imbued with age-old traditions, enclosed within impervious, fairytale-like natural surroundings.
