Civezzano
Civezzano, a town overlooked by one of the most important sacred monuments in the Trentino region: the Pieve dell'Assunta.
Civezzano is located among the hills surrounding Monte Calisio and is the epitome of nature-relax combination. The town enjoys a strategic position, which is close both to Trento and its evocative surrounding hills, and Lake Caldonazzo, making it an ideal spot for peaceful and pleasant nature walks. The Via Claudia Augusta Altinate, the road which used to connect the Lagoon of Venice and Trento to central Europe, runs through the area.
The town's historical town-centre is overlooked by the majestic Pieve dell'Assunta, an ancient and highly fascinating parish church, which features frescoes by Bassano. Currently housing the Municipal Offices, Castel Telvana too boasts important historical roots. The castle has been recently refurbished and is open to visitors. The Torre dei Canopi, a 16th century tower overlooking the Valsugana valley, used to be the seat of the "Giudice delle Miniere" (the Judge of the Mines").
The Ecomuseo Argentario is also located in Civezzano, and helps visitors get in touch with the local way of living, Monte Calisio and its mining past.
