Grumes
Built in the Fiemme style, Grumes overlooks the River Avisio
Located in the Val di Cembra, this small town overlooks River Avisio. It faces the hamlets of Piscine, Montalt, Sover, Montesover, the Valle del Brusago and Gresta valleys on the opposite bank, while the mountains of Pinetano, Vigolana, Bondone, Giudicarie Alps all tower in the background. Lake Vedes is also located close-by.
Vines are traditionally grown in the area and are used to manufacture high-quality Trentino wines.
In accordance with the Fiemme tradition, Grumes is divided into cantons, that is Gregion, Dos, la Riu, Masi and Rella, whereas the main town is subdivided into "contrade", districts.
Grumes' characteristic pebbled alleys are known as "frone" or "fraune" and its buildings are decorated with typical Fiemme architectural features and wood overstructures (balconies, bridges, outdoor stairways, etc.).
Tourist attractions here include the neo-Renaissance Municipal building and the old "Canzeleri" house. The Dos is a picturesque cluster of houses perched on the mountain stretching into the valley, and includes the chapel of the Madonna de la Salette.
