Cimone
Easy excellence in its hospitality and agricultural manufacturing
This small town in the Lagarino lies at the foot of Monte Bondone. Located just a few kilometres away from both Trento and Rovereto, it can be reached from the Destra Adige route. The town features numerous outlying administrative districts, which have developed out from age-old Alpine farmhouses ("masi") built in the basin at the foot of Monte Bondone.
The weather in the summer here is cooled by the Ora del Garda breeze as it blows through the Valle di Cei valley. It is also mild in the winter, since the Maddaleni hills shelter the town from the cold Tramontana winds. The town itself dates back to 1200 and still features its original outlines, with dry stone terraces and walls built with local stones, which climb all the way up to the end of the woods.
Here tourists can enjoy a wide range of walks and tours, exploring the surroundings from the valley floor to Monte Cornetto - which stands at 2180 meters above sea level - as well as Monte Bondone's other high peaks. The area is rich in flowers, such as edelweiss and rhododendrons and features a number of unique endemism in terms of flora and fauna.
Other attractions here include the nearby Integral Nature Reserve of the Viote on Monte Bondone, the Botanic Gardens, Lake Cei and the Conca di Zendrana basin.
Accommodation in the area is available both in farmhouses and privately, and is in line with the simple, natural surroundings of a rural-sylvan Alpine culture with strong handcrafting and woodworking traditions and genuine country products.
