Aldeno
Historical re-enactments of the "Comun Comunale", prized wines and rural traditions
Aldeno is a large, farming town located in the Valle dell'Adige, built on fertile lands used to grow and produce award-winning wines (the renowned Merlot Exhibition of Italy bears witness to this) as well as superb fruit and vegetables (apples, plums, cherries and asparagus). Wood and ironworking also play an important role here, as can be seen by the many mills and factories which once existed along the banks of the river.
Aldeno also offers family accommodation in its bed & breakfasts.
Throughout its history, Aldeno has always been a part of the Comun Comunale - a consortium-like organisation which brought together several villages in order to best manage their rich, unfarmed lands and woods. This tradition is still kept alive today during the "Il Comun Comunale: i giochi e la regola" festival. Held between May and June, the event also features historical parades in period costumes, concerts, ballets and re-enactments held in palaces, medieval castles and country courts.
