Vattaro
High altitudes and an ideal climate, nestled between Lake Caldonazzo and the Doss del Bue
Vattaro is located on a morenic terrace at the foot of the Doss del Bue (Dos da Bugo), 700 metres above sea level. Ancient houses stand side by side historical palaces, such as Palazzo Bortolazzi - dating back to the late 17th century with its cylindrical tower and its ring of slits under the cusp - which houses frescoes by Erasmo Antonio Obermuller (aka the Pistolese) depicting rural scenes. Vattaro is a traditional farming town, as well as the home of caradori, cart drivers who used to travel between Trento and Feltre selling fruit and wood.
Vattaro is the largest tourist centre in the Vigolana plateau and features hotels, numerous private apartments and an Alpine refuge. Here visitors can play tennis, volleyball and football, as well as explore the 60 km of the Vigolana Plateau, travelling along its themed historical, sensory, tasting and movement trails (by nordic walking, mountain-bike and horseback riding).
This incredibly green and fragrant area offers guests relaxing holidays in close contact with nature, including the Pian dei Pradi - a town which spread out from a single maso built on a striking meadow surrounded by woods.
Fruits and vegetables cultivated in the area are true delicacies, and are traditionally grown as well as cheaply sold and directly delivered.
