With a population of only 106, Massimeno is the smallest village of Val Rendena, and is located on a terrace overlooking River Sarca. The houses are gathered around the large open square from which to enjoy a view taking in the valley and the Adamello-Presanella massif.
Massimeno offers easy walks with gentle uphill and downhills slopes, but there are also more difficult and more challenging walks.
From the granite fountain in the square a path climbs up to the little Medieval Church of San Giovanni Battista, which was decorated in 1534 by Simone Baschenis.
In the wintertime, Massimeno can serve as a base for the Pinzolo and Madonna di Campiglio ski areas, as well as the Pinzolo-Carisolo cross-country skiing centre, the ice rink and other attractions of Rendena valley.
