Where to find it
We are in the northernmost edge of Val di Fassa, in the province of Trento: Canazei is a town of just under 2,000 inhabitants, located amongst important Dolomite groups and surrounded by the peaks of the Marmolada, Gruppo del Sella, and Sassolungo. A renowned tourist destination, in summer and winter it offers a variety of activities.
What to do
In summer time in Canazei you can relax, have fun, and practise sports - even in the beautiful season! You can take walks along the stream, go hiking or mountain biking, or try high elevation excursions in fairytale surroundings.
And, in addition, we suggest you give yourself a day of relaxation with friends or family at the Dòlaondes water centre, where you can find swimming pools, a parabolic slide, and a wellness centre: a paradise for young and old alike, with a view of the Dolomites. Finally, in the summer evenings in the town, you cannot miss the night life, among bars and typical products, pubs, and traditional Ladin festivals.
And in winter? In Canazei you can practise snowboarding, downhill skiing in the beautiful ski areas of Alba Ciampac and Canazei Belvedere, cross-country skiing and snowshoe walks, all surrounded by the Dolomites: you can reach important passes like the Pordoi or the Sella, or you can enjoy a spectacular view of the Marmolada glacier.
In fact, tourists from all over the world come right here to enjoy the largest skiing district in the Alps: directly linked with the Sellaronda Skitour, Canazei is part of the Dolomiti Superski: four skiing and snowboarding areas within comfortable reach of the town.
And if you are not able to ski and don’t feel like walking around on snowshoes, you can still reach the Sass Pordoi by cableway, walking from the centre of the town: just think, it is known as the Terrace of the Dolomites because of its 3,000 metre elevation. In summer and winter alike, from up there you can admire a view that you definitely don’t see every day!
How to get there
As is the case with many other towns in Val di Fassa, to reach Canazei it is very comfortable to travel by car.
Those arriving by car must exit the A22 Modena-Brennero motorway at Egna/Ora, and follow directions on the SS48 delle Dolomiti. Or, you can exit at Bolzano Nord and continue along the SS 241, the Grande Strada delle Dolomiti [Great Road of the Dolomites].
By train, you can stop in Trento, Ora/Auer or Bolzano, and continue by bus with the Trentino Trasporti company or with SAD.
