Costalunga Pass - Paolina viewpoint
Once upon a time there was a king. Thus begins the tale of King Laurino and his rose garden, one of the best-known legends of the Dolomites.
It is here that every day, at dawn and dusk, you relive with a thrill the spectacle of Enrosadira, when the sun's rays set fire to the walls of Catinaccio. Already from the Costalunga Pass, about 5 km from Vigo di Fassa, the view is captured by a unique panorama with the Catinaccio, the Roda di Vael and the Latemar dominating the entire area. To gain another exceptional vantage point and fall even more in love with these places, you must climb, on foot or by chair, to the Rifugio Paolina. In summer, the panoramic path no. 539/549 leads to the Roda de Vael refuge and Baita Pederiva, at the foot of the Croz di Santa Giuliana, patron saint of the Fassa Valley, passing in front of the bronze eagle to Theodor Christomannos, a mountaineer and pioneer of Dolomite tourism.
