Ladin Museum Fassa
Enter a world where the past comes alive, where a vibrant and unique community, with its language and fascinating history, welcomes you with open arms.
Welcome to the Museum Ladin de Fascia! Here, in a modern and avant-garde context, you can explore the entire history of the Ladin minority of the Fassa Valley. Your journey begins with prehistory, passing through the productive activities that have shaped the valley, the institutional organization that has governed it, the popular traditions and religious customs that have marked its millenary life. The legends, handed down from generation to generation, intertwine with the stories of the Great War and the advent of mountaineering and tourism, drawing a vivid and immersive mosaic that reaches the community of today. Ladin language and traditions are still alive and present in every aspect of society. Along the way, you'll discover 18 locations where you can choose from more than 70 short films, giving you an interactive and personalised experience. In the last room of the museum an ancient story comes to life on an immersive large screen: "La vivana scacciata" (in Ladin "La vivana e l cian") allows visitors to enter the world of "conties", the narratives of the Fassana tradition, to discover some of its protagonists.
But it doesn't end there. Get ready for an extraordinary adventure with the virtual reality game "Pigui Experience". Wearing a special visor, you will find yourself catapulted back in time, to 2,400 years ago, with the first inhabitants of the valley, the ancient people of the Reti. You will discover the traces of a distant past through the archaeological finds found on the Pigui, a town above Mazzin. Your mission? Save the people of the goddess Retia from oblivion by completing all assigned missions. Book your adventure online: it lasts about 20/30 minutes and is suitable for children aged 9 and over.
The Ladin Museum, in addition to the headquarters and the specialist library of the Cultural Institute, also comprises five local sections scattered throughout the valley, each created through the recovery of structures of great ethnographic and cultural interest: La Sia in Penìa, L Stònt in Campitello, L Malghier in Pera, L Molin de Pèzol in Pera, L Segat in Pozza.
By participating in the activities, guided tours and initiatives included in the Val di Fassa Guest Card, you will have the opportunity to fully immerse yourself in Ladin culture. And don't worry, the museum is also accessible to people with disabilities, ensuring an inclusive experience for everyone.
