Trentino boasts a truly amazing range of landscapes. The mountains crown and define numerous valleys, each with its own unique characteristics.
The Brentonico Highland is a favourite with families. Its ski area stretches across the northern slopes on Monte Baldo and is just 20km from the Rovereto Sud exit of the Brenner Highway. The Polsa - San Valentino - San Giacomo ski area has a total of 8 ski lift facilities (of which 3 four-seater chairlifts, rope tows and magic carpets) that allow skiers to descend particularly wide and safe slopes, all of which are regularly serviced by snowmaking cannons and with splendid views over Lake Garda and the Brenta Dolomites.
For some winter fun for children, there are three well-equipped baby parks and ski camps with magic carpets. In San Valentino it’s also possible to go ice-skating.
The Italian Ski School of Monte Baldo offers instructors specialised in teaching beginners.
For those who don’t ski but love snow all the same, there are plenty of alternatives, such as snowshoe treks through the Monte Baldo natural park. This vast protected area contains an extraordinary biodiversity thanks mainly to the various terrains and altitudes that vary from a couple of hundred metres to elevations that exceed 2,000 metres above sea level.
For fans of Nordic skiing, the Cross-Country skiing Centre at San Giacomo di Brentonico offers about 20km of groomed trails of varying difficulty. On Tuesday and Thursday evenings the trails are illuminated, allowing skiers to enjoy a bit of skiing after sundown.
