Amblar
At the foot of Monte Roen: rural settings and fun for family-friendly holidays
Located on a morenical terrace at the foot of Monte Roen - the highest peak of the Mendola Chain - Amblar is a small town in the Upper Val di Non valley dating back to the 4th century AD, when the Anaunia was first Romanised.
The historical part of town is located on a rocky mound and features traditional rustic houses, partly built in wood. Special mention goes to the Porta di Val Avena. This age-old barrier - still fully working yet - was used to shut out thieves coming from the Amblar woods and protect the town.
During the summer, the whole community gathers together to entertain families and kids by organizing hikes to the canyons, creative and activity workshops, the small magic train of the Om de le Storie (Man of the Tales), free lessons with golf teachers and visits to the petting zoo.
