Preore rock-climbing area
Preore wide rock-climbing area is located in Nière district. At a stone throw from the town and surrounded by a stunning natural landscape, it is renowned for its abundance of easy pitches. Nonetheless, it is also includes sectors with challenging - even overhanging - pitches, of up to grade 8. All pitches in the "El Cos dei Cros" are highly enjoyable, and feature medium level grading difficulty, while those in the Formica and Lavarda sectors are both striking and easier. Visitors are invited to admire the sculpture in the Fata sector, which has given it its name.
Even if it is located in mid mountain (550 m a.s.l.), it faces South, and as such can be climbed almost all year around. But apart from its position, its very limestone rock - quick-drying as it is - further contributes to its accessibility.
The wall has been rediscovered nowadays. In the 60s, it was used by Mountaineers in the Redena area to train, including Ezio Alimonta. After being briefly abandoned, it has instead expanded its climbing possibilities. Using rap bolts techniques and spits, walls which where once inaccessible are now both popular and highly enjoyable.
