Neve Notte
Amateur night cross-country skiing race, from Forno to Moena, following the route of the legendary Marcialonga
Every year, on the last Sunday of January, the Marcialonga returns - one of the most renowned and internationally acclaimed long-distance granfondo races. Alongside the most famous champions, the true stars are the over seven thousand participants who compete amidst the breathtaking scenery of the Fiemme and Fassa valleys.
In anticipation of the Marcialonga, which will start on Sunday at 8:00 a.m. from Moena, the Monti Pallidi Sports Union is organising a special night-time cross-country skiing event in the sprint category on Friday, 24 January. The 4 km route, following the classic technique, starts from the hamlet of "Forno" and retraces part of the official Marcialonga route in the opposite direction. This unique experience, suitable even for less experienced skiers, is made all the more enchanting by the lights of headlamps, the moon, and the village. On the tracks, great local cross-country skiing champions and young talents from Fiemme and Fassa will compete.
The evening for spectators kicks off at 4:00 p.m. in "Forno", where you will be welcomed with bread, sausages, and a glass of mulled wine to warm you up while you cheer on the competitors at the start. At the finish line, the "Piaz de Ramon" square comes alive with music and food stands offering tea, mulled wine, fortaie, and hot soup, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere while awaiting the arrival of the first skiers. On stage, prizes will be awarded to men’s, women’s, and mixed pairs in a festive atmosphere that marks the start of an unforgettable weekend for cross-country skiing enthusiasts.
