- Christmas in the medieval village
Located amidst a crossroads of valleys right above Riva, Tenno enjoys a privileged location, which benefits from both Alpine sorroundings and the more Mediterranean climate
around Lake Garda area. Its position halfway up the mountains, favours its contrasting landscape, which was described by Virgil in the Aeneid. The Tenno Castle (12th century) is the town's highlight and is located on the rocky terrace of Frapporta, with splendid views over the lake. And charming too is its medieval flavour, as well as the Roman church of San Lorenzo.
Canale is listed amongst the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy and features a cluster of houses connected by archways and courtyards as well as a flourishing cultural scene, especially thanks to the Artists' House - Casa degli Artisti - and the many artists who have chosen to make Canale their home for the summer.
The area also provides tourists with the possibility of visiting its unique environmental heritage: the Tenno lake, which covers the remains of a petrified forest with a striking wooded island.
