Rifugio Roda di Vael - Catinaccio
- Hosts one of the concerts of the festival I Suoni delle Dolomiti
Roberta manages the refuge (owned by sat and completely renovated in 2008) with great passion, carrying on the baton left to her by her husband (and mountain guide) Bruno Deluca.
The typical Alpine-style garrison - in stone, with the external walls covered with wooden shingles and the shutters at the windows in the characteristic white and blue colours - stands in a truly enviable position. We are in the southern area of the Catinaccio Rosengarten Group, on the Sella del Ciampaz, at the foot of the Croz di Santa Giuliana, at 2,283 m. To reach it you have to walk: you can start from the Costalunga Pass or from Ciampedìe (Vigo). The effort is fully rewarded by the view and the kitchen. Traditional Ladin dishes parade at the table, as well as a rich choice of desserts, strictly homemade, and gluten-free dishes (AFC certification).
Order the Cigolade Pan, the dish of sharing, in the true spirit of refuge, one of the most requested pastas. The service is fast, thanks to a close-knit and young staff, who will make you feel at home. The sunrises and sunsets are absolutely unmissable: you just have to stop for the night. The evenings pass between reading a good book and fun games in Roda!, the canned game designed to celebrate the 18 years of the refuge.
