Madonna di Campiglio is one of the most famous ski resorts of the Italian Alps, located at one end of the Val Rendena dotted with quaint villages and thousand-year-old woodland. Skiing here means immersing yourself in a landscape that takes your breath away: to the east the Brenta Dolomites, a World Heritage Site, to the west the Adamello and Presanella groups.
Moving between the ski areas of this valley is very simple and quick, so much so that Madonna di Campiglio and Pinzolo are connected in just 16 minutes by the Pinzolo-Campiglio Express cable car, a mobile showcase on the Adamello Brenta Natural Park.
The whole ski area, known as Campiglio Dolomiti di Brenta, is the largest in Trentino: it has 156 km of lift-linked slopes, modern and fast lift systems, programmed snow-making machines that can cover almost all (95%) of the entire skiing terrain, plus spectacular runs renowned all over the world. The legendary Canalone Miramonti, is the arena of the 3Tre Ski World Cup, and the Tulot Audi is one of the most technically demanding ski runs in the Dolomite mountains. The undisputed kingdom of snowboarding as well, the Ursus Snowpark in Madonna di Campiglio sul Grostè, the Mini Park for beginners in Pradalago and the Brenta Snowpark in Pinzolo- with its 100,000 m2 of jumps, structures and slopes for different skill levels, offer possibilities and jumps that are suitable for everyone.
The new 10-person gondola lift in Pinzolo became operational in the 2023/2024 season, in the area of Prà Rodont and Doss del Sabion, renovating the two departure and arrival stations, which were intended to be completely underground, i.e. buried. Inspired by the fossil life forms yield from the rocks of the Dolomite geological series, the new structures upgrade the entire current "parterre" on an environmental level, camouflaging and harmonizing with the natural environment. Completing the harmonization project was the restyling and expansion of the Rifugio- Ristorante Bar Doss del Sabion, at an altitude of 2,101 meters. The area will also be enriched by an educational area with lifts and a "LED wall" which ideally continues the experiential path started downstream.
Attention to the environment and a strategy generating good management and development practices are therefore confirmed. As part of the pursuit of sustainable tourism for the territory and the people who live there, the Pinzolo cable cars also achieved the important goal of carbon neutrality in 2022, on the one hand reducing and on the other offsetting their CO₂ emissions.
The Skiarea also continues with the pay-per-use and Starpass formula: online sales are based on ski pass prices that are no longer fixed, but dynamic and paying only for how much you ski, according to the "pay-per-use" formula. The seasonal one instead becomes “Starpass”: For those who purchase it. the more they ski the less they pay. Finally, the day pass, purchased online and in advance of the day of use, always has a cheaper price than the card purchased on the same day at the ticket counters.
Both in Madonna di Campiglio as well as in Pinzolo it is possible to experience winter beyond downhill skiing: just a few steps away from the large beaten ski runs there is the silent nature of the Adamello Brenta Nature Park. A concentration of alpine lakes, frozen waterfalls to admire or climb, centuries-old woods to explore on foot, with snowshoes or on ski mountaineering routes. And, why not, even on a team of husky sled dogs or on horseback. And then there are also cross-country skiing and tobogganing trails, biathlon, telemark, spiked e-bike routes, skating and paragliding flights.
