Livo
Nature and history meet in Livo, amidst ancient castles and breath-taking panoramas
Livo is located in the middle of the Altopiano del Mezzalone plateau, in-between Pescara and Barnes streams. It is an age-old town, which owes its name to the Livo Family. They used to own the Castello di Zoccolo - perched in a magnificent panoramic position - and the Mostizzolo castle, as well as the rocca di Livo - which is set on the Caslir. The Renaissance residence called residenza della Toresela is remarkable too.
The municipal area also includes the villages of Preghena, Varollo and Scanna. Varollo hosts the Natività di Madonna parish church, a fascinating Gothic monument with an exceptionally high bell tower. There are numerous paths to enjoy walker-friendly tours, as well as others connected to high mountain trails, which range from easy to challenging levels and are much appreciated by mountain lovers.
