Segheria di Celledizzo – Museo Etnografico del Legno
An important historical testimony: a real museum of work dedicated to the raw material symbol of the valley. Discover this evocative place and its collection of artifacts.
This building, built in the early nineteenth century, was modified in the early thirties of the twentieth century and represents a historical testimony of a key step in the evolution of the valley, when the arrival of electricity changed the operation of the Venetian sawmills that until then had based their energy supply on the strength of water. Visiting the Celledizzo sawmill you can observe the traditional structure with all the mechanisms working perfectly. The building houses an exhibition of ancient tools that has turned it into a real wood museum. The exhibition also tells the epic tale of woodcutters ("borari") and sawdust workers ("segòti") engaged in a tiring and dangerous job.
