On Wednesday 11 December at 5.30 pm in Trento, Le Gallerie hosts the event entitled "For freedom: Giacomo Matteotti and Bruno Buozzi". A meeting that intertwines the human and political story of Giacomo Matteotti and Bruno Buozzi, two figures united by a similar destiny that ideally marks the beginning and end of the fascist dictatorship. Among the guests: Elena Matteotti, professor and grandson of Giacomo Matteotti, for the first time in Trentino, Giorgio Benvenuto and Alberto Aghemo, respectively presidents of the Bruno Buozzi Foundation and the Giacomo Matteotti Foundation.
The one on 11 December at Le Gallerie is a joint initiative of the Fondazione Museo storico del Trentino, Fondazione Bruno Buozzi and Uil del Trentino to remember the two figures who, 20 years later, lost their lives in defence of their ideals and in the name of freedom. If in fact on June 10, 1924 the socialist deputy Giacomo Matteotti was kidnapped and then murdered by a group of squads for denouncing violence and illegality of the nascent Mussolini dictatorship, on June 4, 1944 Bruno Buozzi, historic union leader and Matteotti's party comrade, was shot by the Nazis along with thirteen other people in the last massacre of the capital, known as the "massacre of La Storta".
