Tribute to Pino Daniele
Fabrizio Bosso and Julian Oliver Mazzariello pay heartfelt and respectful tribute to Pino Daniele's music with Il cielo è pieno di stelle. The concept, which was the brainchild of journalist Ernesto Assante, uses the Pale di San Martino as a backdrop and the Villa Welsperg Park as a stage, and is infused with all the nuances and rich colours of the renowned Neapolitan singer-songwriter's music. The 20-year collaboration between Fabrizio Bosso and Julian Oliver Mazzariello is underpinned by their mutual admiration for Pino Daniele's music. The repertoire covers a sizeable time period, including Je so’ pazzo, Quando, Napule è, Quanno chiove, Se mi vuoi and A me me piace o’ blues as well as lesser-known tracks such as Allora si, Mal di te and, of course, Sicily, composed with Chick Corea. "Pino Daniele's music is very similar to jazz," affirms Bosso, "a genre which he loved, knew very well and experienced first-hand through many illustrious collaborations, including, to name a few, with Pat Metheny, Rita Marcotulli and Gato Barbieri".
