What about a tour around the lake?

Easy walks on the most beautiful lakes in Trentino

If you look down from above, they look like rings set with a large blue sapphire in the centre. But actually, they are beautiful trails around the lakes in Trentino. Easy to walk along, sheltered by leafy branches and cool in spring and summer, thanks to the breeze that rises from the lake.

They are just perfect for an easy walk, to get going again and breathe in the pure Alpine air. And then there are the lakes. Romantic and mesmerising. With mountains that seem to dive into those blue waters. A view that is a feast for the eyes and uplifts your spirit.

That’s why we would like to recommend these 6 easy walks around the most beautiful lakes in Trentino. They are excursions that anyone can go on: they are neither too long nor too strenuous. Which one would you like to start with?

Lake Molveno, along the “most beautiful Lake in Italy”

For several consecutive years, this lake on the Paganella plateau was elected “the most beautiful and cleanest lake in Italy”, according to the classification drawn up by Legambiente (an Italian environmental protection association) and Touring Club Italiano. Taking a walk along its banks means walking amongst green meadows and woods, admiring both the lake and the Brenta Dolomites silhouetted against the sky.

Lago di Serraia and Lago delle Piazze, from one lake to another

A nice flat walk on the banks of two lakes, on the Altopiano di Piné (plateau) in the heart of Trentino. After leaving your car in Baselga di Piné, walk along the left bank of the Lago di Serraia passing by a couple of tasty ice cream parlours, and then get to the Lago delle Piazze and walk around it. An easy walk that lasts about two hours.

Lake Garda, a stunning walk

A walk through tunnels burrowed through the rock, hairpin bends and an incredible view of Lake Garda: the old Ponale road is one of the most popular routes for cyclists and travellers from all over Europe. It has a very long history. It was first opened to cars in 1890 and until 1990 it was the only link between Riva del Garda and the Valle di Ledro. After closing for a period, since 2004 it has been reconverted into the walking and cycling route we can travel on today.

Lake Ledro, discovering pile dwellings

Just a short distance from Lake Garda, in Valle di Ledro, you will find this turquoise water lake, which on its banks features the remains of ancient pile dwellings dating back to prehistoric times. The walk around the lake takes more than two hours, but the footpath is flat and not very difficult. It is also perfect for walking your dog.
