Among the Dolomites of north-east Trentino

A guided tour of the Trentino brewing scene

On this tour you’ll get a chance to sample the craft beers of north-east Trentino, where the Dolomites stretch up into the sky, the water is fresh, the quality of the ingredients is superb, and the passion is as strong as the traditions.

We want to give you the opportunity to taste, sip and savour our craft beers among the Dolomites of Val di Fiemme, Val di Fassa and San Martino di Castrozza. We want to show you what our local area has to offer in this part of Trentino. There are wonderful things waiting to be seen, explored and tasted.

Have a great trip!

In Val di Fiemme

In Val di Fiemme you’ll find natural marvels in the Parco Naturale di Paneveggio (nature park), and life and history in the towns and villages. For instance, in Cavalese’s vibrant town centre there’s the Civic Belfry of San Sebastiano, the Church of San Vigilio and Palazzo della Magnifica Comunità di Fiemme, home to an institution that has managed the mountains, pastures and forests in the valley for hundreds of years. The building now contains a Museum and Picture Gallery, as well as a hugely significant archive of manuscripts, charters and other documents providing records of the feats of this institution, known as the Magnifica Comunità di Fiemme.

In Val di Fiemme you can dive into a host of cultural delights and – above all – natural wonders that await just outside the towns and villages. To find out about all the amazing things to see and places to go in the valley, take a look here.

Birra di Fiemme

Pale ale or red ale? At the Birra di Fiemme Brewery in Masi di Cavalese you can also find local and seasonal beers. As the owner Stefano Gilmozzi says, it’s worth taking the time to taste and reflect on the merits of every single one of them.

Val di Fassa - Moena - Located at the feet of the most beautiful Dolomites in Trentino

In Val di Fassa

Benvegnui (welcome) to Val di Fassa! It’s home to the Ladin culture of the Dolomites, which takes the form not only of the language spoken by the local people but also the neighbourhoods filled with frescoed mansions, the fountains, the chapels and the cuisine.

Speaking of food, in local dishes you’ll often come across Puzzone di Moena, a type of cheese made with milk from mountain pastures that’s protected under the Slow Food Presidia scheme.

Vigo di Fassa in Val di Fassa has been listed among the most beautiful villages in Italy by the Borghi Più Belli d’Italia association. If you have a couple of days free, head into the heart of the Dolomites on a trip that starts right there, in Vigo di Fassa. Here’s the route

Rampeèr Birrificio Osteria

Daniel gave his eco-sustainable brewery in Campitello di Fassa the name “Rampeèr”, which means “Climb”. He might recommend a light Tin Tan Ton (named after the sound of grazing cattle) or an aromatic Arlárk (“Hey There”) with citrus fruit and resin. Which would you choose?

In San Martino di Castrozza

Next, our craft beer tour in the Trentino Dolomites will take you towards San Martino di Castrozza.

Le Pale di San Martino, the Parco Naturale di Paneveggio (nature park), Mezzano (listed among the most beautiful villages in Italy by the Borghi Più Belli d’Italia association): just reading these names conjures up images of meadows, shepherds’ huts, woods, peaks (including the iconic Cimon de la Pala), lakes and villages.

You might have come across photos of Baita Segantini facing Cimon de la Pala, but nothing compares to seeing it in real life, especially at sunset. It’s at that time of day that the phenomenon known as Alpenglow (Enrosadira) tinges the Dolomites with a pink hue.

Birrificio Bionoc

The BioNoc brewery in Mezzano gets its name from its two founders: Fa(Bio) and Nicola (‘Noc). In their brewing process, they combine ageing in barriques with the use of fresh fruit (raspberries, apricots and cherries). There’s nothing like a nicely chilled BioNoc beer on a summer day!
