Bait del Germano - Altopiano della Paganella
- Hosts one of the concerts of the festival I Suoni delle Dolomiti
A plateau, that of Paganella, which becomes a perfect panoramic point on the great Trentino peaks – from the Eastern to the Western Dolomites, not forgetting the Lagorai - but also a gateway to mountain areas yet to be discovered. It happens so that even the most experienced hikers are amazed to discover a Brenta that hosts wide green basins at high altitudes, traditionally destined for summer pastures, where one can discover and savor true silence.
But it may even happen to find oneself in front of a church – like the one of San Tommaso in Cavedago – that seems to serve no purpose and instead, its 14th-century frescoes and its location tell us about a territory where people have settled for centuries not in large centers but with small family units gathered in farms. Here, particular traditions have formed and it is no coincidence that one of the most mysterious and fascinating typical products of Trentino still survives – in the area of San Lorenzo in Banale – the ciuiga, a sausage made skillfully using boiled white turnips.
Then, as if by magic, the woods open up and reveal unexpected corners like the splendid Lake Molveno, a true azure gem nestled in a dense forest, a forest that once extended even under the water's surface and today is a submerged petrified forest over three thousand years old.
