Cascata del Gorg d'Abiss
A hidden waterfall
You can reach this waterfall easily by taking a short walk of about half an hour from the village of Tiarno di Sotto, where you can leave your car without any problems.
If you decide to start from the main square, we suggest you head up towards the Bugatti Mill and take the path that leads you into the woods along the bubbling Rio Massangla river.
As you delve ever deeper into this captivating environment, the cobblestone path soon gives way to a moss-covered trail. From here, with a final effort, you will reach the rocky chamber of the “Gorg d'Abiss” waterfall.
You can actually get so close to it that you can feel the power it wields while refreshing yourself with the drops of splashing water. It truly is the right place to stop, close your eyes, and simply absorb the unique atmosphere.
Before heading back, we recommend you walk just a little further as far as the remains of the Roman bridge of Croina. Also nearby you’ll find the church of San Giorgio, which was built as a votive monument by the early inhabitants of Tiarno. From the church you relax and marvel at the majestic panorama that lies before you.
