During the Christmas season, the Pro Loco of Calavino transforms the characteristic courtyards of the "Rione Mas," that is, the oldest part of the village, into a little Bethlehem, where a charming Living Nativity scene is brought to life.
The event, inspired by the eternal, deeply cherished popular tradition of the sacred representation, re-enacts the key moments of the historic event, reconstructing the environment in which Christ was born.
Strolling through the courtyards, to the tune of sweet Christmas melodies, you will be able to see real artisans at work, setting the backdrop for the Holy Family. Onlookers will find themselves transported back in time to the world of 2000 years ago (although it does still resemble our recent past). Here they can relive the same sensations and emotions that the humble yet fortunate shepherds of the real Bethlehem experienced, as witnesses to a miracle.
