Molveno, the most beautiful lake in Italy
Molveno and its lake receive awards from Legambiente and Touring Club Italiano
For the 5th year running, Lake Molveno has been awarded five sails 2018 by Legambiente and Touring Club Italiano, the highest accolade in Italy given to sites for their environmental quality and protection as well as their commitment to safeguard water-based environments.
Lake Molveno also ranked first among the best lakes in Italy and was rewarded for the way it has integrated its sustainable and eco-friendly hospitality facilities with the natural environment, artistic heritage, traditions and local wine and food products.
This award commits the local authorities to continue determinedly in their efforts to protect and safeguard the environment and waters of Lake Molveno, to improve the services offered to residents and tourists alike, to continue its projects aimed at increasing environmental awareness. Legambiente's 5 sails label gives guests the certainty of the cleanliness of the local beaches and waters. In fact, there are numerous rigorous checks and inspections that certify to the absolute safety of the swimming waters, the total absence of industrial wastewaters, a controlled access for dogs, the prohibition to use motor-powered boats, the presence of toilets and their cleanliness, the presence of controlled picnic areas.
It must be noted that Molveno has also been awarded the Bandiera Arancione (Orange Flag), a tourism-environmental quality label given by the Touring Club of Italy to small inland towns that stand out for the quality of their tourist offer and their first-rate accommodation facilities.
Specifically, Molveno offers an efficient tourist information service, a well preserved town centre, natural resources that are not only accessible but also actively promoted (the municipality of Molveno is also within the Adamello - Brenta Nature Park, at the foot of the Brenta Dolomites - a UNESCO world heritage site). The local public transport system is also very well managed; in fact, the local authorities have defined policies for sustainable local transport and for closing the town centre to vehicles.
