The Olympic Flame Will Soon Ignite Again as the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics Approach

Next year, the Olympic flame will be lit once more as the 2026 Winter Olympic Games (6 – 22 February 2026) and the Paralympic Winter Games (6 – 15 March 2026) kick off in Milan-Cortina.

Trentino is making significant contributions to the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics and Paralympics, hosting 31% of the events. Trentino will host a total of 60 different races, and this marks a major milestone for the region, showcasing its commitment to hosting world-class sports events.

Trentino, and particularly the Val di Fiemme area, is intensively preparing for these major sporting events. As the heart of Nordic disciplines, the ski area will host competitions in cross-country skiing, Nordic combined, and ski jumping – sports with a long tradition in the region. Trentino has already been the venue for three World Championships (1991, 2003, and 2013), as well as numerous World Cup races and the Tour de Ski. The Paralympic Winter Games will feature Para Cross-Country Skiing and Para Biathlon in the northern Italian region.

The countdown has already begun at the F. Canal di Lago di Tesero Stadium and the G. Dal Ben Stadium in Predazzo, where spectators from around the world are expected. Preparations are in full swing, and until the opening of the Winter Games, each Nordic competition is seen as a "technical test” – from Marcialonga to the Tour de Ski, the Nordic Combined World Cup, and the Skiri Trophy XCountry.

Expansion of Winter Sports in Val di Fiemme

Val di Fiemme not only offers top-tier competition venues but also a wide variety of winter sports for all visitors. With over 110 kilometers of slopes, 120 experienced ski instructors, and 50 modern ski lifts, the Alpine ski arena is an ideal destination for winter sports enthusiasts. Visitors can enjoy five ski areas with a single ski pass and admire UNESCO World Heritage peaks such as Latemar and Pale di San Martino.

The region also offers less experienced skiers the chance to explore its 150 km of cross-country trails, as well as two modern cross-country centers in Lago di Tesero and at Passo Lavazé-Oclini. Snow-covered paths invite guests for snowshoeing and Nordic walking, where nature lovers can quietly follow animal tracks.
