A long time before there were ski slopes, this refuge was built on the Alpe di Lusia to serve early travellers with an interest in exploring the Dolomites. That was the end of the nineteenth century, but today the massive stone walls still tell an ancient mountain story today. During the Great War the refuge - very close to the first Austrian line on Cima Bocche - became a military command base. Now - completely restructured in traditional style - it is immensely popular with skiers and with the many walkers and cyclists who, in summer, come over Passo Lusia on foot or by mountain bike.
