Unusual snow routes in Vallagarina
Guided excursions to discover unusual locations, with lunch, at high altitude
Enjoy your Sunday outdoor, wear your snowshoes and let yourself be guided while discovering the off the beaten track locations of Vallagarina. At the end of the itinerary, you will be able to savour a tasty typical lunch, at high altitude.
In the company of expert local alpine guides, you will venture with your snowshoes on the untouched snow, on gentle slopes and candid, silent Woods, so to reach the mountain huts where to savour the tasty dishes of the alpine tradition.
- Sunday 22nd of December – Monte Baldo, Baita Fos-Ce Refuge (San Valentino di Brentonico)
Snowshoeing among the silent, dense beechwoods of Bès’ natural reserve and the sorrounding meadows, admiring unique scenery, while preparing for a rich local lunch, prepared in the welcoming, cozy “Baita FosCe”: choose among Baita FosCe’s warm soup, a plate of cured meats and cheeses, or a single course of “polenta”, pork roast, cook at low heat, sauerkraut and a “canederlo” served with butter and sage (vegetarian option available).

- Sunday 19th of January – Lessinia Trentina, Hotel Monti Lessini (Sega di Ala)
A hike, suitable for everyone, among the gentle slopes of the snowy hills on the Lessinia plateau, with a view fading at the Horizon between the Dolomites and Veneto’s pre-Alps…and, at the end of the hike there will be a tasty lunch at the “Albergo Monti Lessini” with a plate of cured meats and cheeses to be shared, “strangolapreti”, goulasch with “polenta” and sauerkraut (vegetarian option with grilled cheese)

- Sunday 2nd of February – Monte Finonchio, Rifugio Filzi (Rovereto)
A hike on the snow, above Rovereto, to reach the peak overlooking the whole area of Vallagarina. An effort made worthy by the excellent lunch at “Rifugio Filzi”, with a plate of cured meat and cheeses, meant to be shared, as an appetizer, or a single course of “polenta di Storo”, goulasch, “canederlo” served with speck-ham and melted cheese or “polenta di Storo”, melted cheese, sauerkraut and mushrooms.

- Sunday 23rd of February – Lessinia Trentina, Locanda Alpina (Sega di Ala)
A simple snowshoe hike, ideal to dive into the beauty of the Lessinia plateau, among snowy meadows, as far as the eye can see, and delightful landscapes, with a view opening to the Dolomites and Veneto’s pre-Alps.
After the snowshoe hike, “Locanda Alpina” ensures a moment of conviviality with a delicious lunch which celebrates the traditional flavours of Lessinia: appetizer of cured meats, cheeses and “giardiniera”. Choose between “gnocchi di malga” or “tagliatelle” with wildboar ragout, porkhock with roasted potatoes or venison stew with “polenta”.

CAUTION: the use of snowshoes or crampons is conditional on the presence of snow – should snow not be present, the hike will be done on foot, if weather conditions allow it.
It is required a good physical fitness and it is mandatory to have layered, thermal clothing with gloves, cap, rucksack, thermos flask with a hot drink, and some snacks for the hike.
NOTE: it is possible to rent the necessary equipment directly from the guide, on site. Rental is subject to earlier notification (at the time of booking).
The guide will adjust the route according to the basis of terrain, weather conditions, and the level of preparedness of the group.
