Tour of the Chimneys
During the First World War (1914-1918), the area surrounding Fort Belvedere Gschwent was home to various logistical service structures, including a barracks used as a bread oven on the slope leading to the Cost Pass. Only the tall concrete chimneys remain of the structure, which is why the location is named "Chimneys.
It is a short route that combines an interest in historical structures related to the First World War with a focus on nature and landscape. It is also recommended for families with children aged 8 and up. It's worth pairing the hike with a visit to the nearby Fort Belvedere Gschwent and the Museum of the Fortifications of the Plateaus.
