The rediscovered past: between ancient cabins and restored barns
Wood in the forests, in the roofs, barns, houses, and balconies facing Sassolungo from a privileged position, as old as the path leading to "Pian".
A walk with breathtaking views leads to "Pian", one of the most picturesque and ancient villages in the valley. In the past, farmers and shepherds lived in harmony with forest animals and giants. In fact, a Ladin legend testifies to their precious coexistence, which ignites when the sun sets on the majestic Sassolungo, their companion on the trail. There was a time when there lived in the valley a tribe of good and generous giants, loved by men and with whom they exchanged food for gold ingots that grew in the rivers. One day the giant Sassolungo was born, with an evil spirit, who plundered crops and farm animals and blamed the animals of the forest, foxes, squirrels and martens. Discovered by the king of the giants, he was condemned to sink into the earth at every lie uttered to the detriment of the innocent people. All that remains of him are the fingers of his hand, the five tips of the solemn Sassolungo.
