Tenna - history and views - South Side

Starting from the town park, you come across the ancient Roman milestone, foundby the archaeologist Paolo Orsi. It testifies to the passage of the Via Claudia Augusta Altinate, and shows the engraving “XXXXI MP” or 41,000 steps which corresponds to the distance from Tenna to Feltre. Continue along Via Roma, on the right you will find “Casa Baruchelli”, an eighteenth-century agricultural court and a little further on you will come across on the left “Casa Betti Motter”, another building that tells the story of the town's past. The Passamani wayside shrine marks the road to the Fort, a majestic testimony of war archeology which leads to the southern part of the hill. From here the view sweeps over both lakes, with a unique view of Lake Levico and Valsugana. The path continues flanked at times by high dry stone walls and allows a glimpse of the remains of “Castel Brenta”, a medieval fortification erased from history. Shortly after the small church of San Valentino, built before 1259, dominates the valley and allows you to admire an extraordinary panorama. The path then leads to loc. Brenta and goes back to Tenna, from where you can continue on Via Lago, Canevaze and Campolongo. You continue into the woods and on the left you will find the “Rocolo”, an ancient bird hunting tower. Further you will encounter a chestnut grove in loc. Alberè.
