SAT - E425 - Folgaria - Bècco di Filadonna

This is the most appropriately alpine excursion of the Alpe Cimbra, an excursion that connects Folgaria (1270 m) to Bècco di Filadonna (2150 m), the queen peak of the Vigolana massif. Managed by the SAT (Società Alpinisti Trentini - Trento Mountaineering Society), it has trail marker no. 425.

The route starts out from Folgarìa Ovest, at the end of Via del Parco. We follow the beautiful forest road that climbs the left orographic slope of the deep and scenic Val di Gola, a former military road of the Great War. With several hairpin bends, on a very beautiful route, never tiring, we reach the Costila spring. A few minutes after the spring, the track now continues straight and level, crosses a stretch of tall vegetation and comes out shortly afterwards, in view of the walls from which, in the 1960s, a landslide obliterated a section of the road. After crossing the restored section and reaching a scenic shoulder, you find the military road again, which you follow at length and comfortably until you reach the signpost indicating that it should be abandoned. Here, turn right and with a short ramp, climb up until you come out just behind the Church of San Vigilio, in view of the meadowy basin below, in the centre of which stands the Hotel Rifugio Paradiso.

Having passed the little church, continue northwards with a steeper ascent, at first over open ground, then through a stretch of woodland. Having passed a panoramic viewpoint, continue along the ridge, passing among the mugho trees, then leave sentry 453 on the left and shortly afterwards, on the right, sentry 451 and, in a short time, touch the Cornetto di Folgarìa. Sent. 425 continues on the crest towards the north, where it is joined first by sent. 425B (dedicated to Giovanni Gentilini) and then by sent. 439 coming from Strada della Fricca. E425-2.

Continue passing near the Second and Third summits and then, with a few counter-slopes, keeping just below the crest on the Val di Gola side, continue until you reach the western slope of Bècco di Filadonna, where you cross Sent. 442. Climb a little further and, at an altitude of 2125 m, you will pass close to the summit of Bècco di Filadonna. From here, with an easy digression to the right, it is possible to reach the summit (ten minutes).
