Where water has marked history
As you reach the oasis of Soraga lake on this circular journey around the "Avisio" River, can you imagine the voice of the Fairy whispering through the leaves to inspire the ancient Ladin art of woodworking?
Perhaps the whims of the fairies were born here and continue to inspire the incessant work of the wood craftsmen. Amidst pink sunsets and drops of dew and river water, the imagination of the Ladins has been nourished by the art of nature, to translate the symbols of its tradition into wood. Fairy tales, legends, living matter that endures, transporting the texture of the forest into the future of time. This relaxing walk along both sides of the river takes you on a journey into the ancient art of wood carvers and sculptors. Generation after generation, the art of wood has been expressed here in all its forms, to stay. Along the way, the scent of grass and flowers of the earth slips over the notes of water to make way, step by step, for a new discovery. Inhabited huts and green farmhouses, the past and present of mountain dwellings, and then the wooden toys that tell stories that have always enchanted. As you walk, it is the body of the trees, everywhere, that breathes with you.
