Alba - Pian Trevisan - Penìa - Alba

Medium-difficulty route that, starting from Alba di Canazei, reaches Hotel Villetta Maria, in "Pian Trevisan" area, classic hiking starting point towards Fedaia Pass and Marmolada.

From the centre of Alba, pedal northwards, going towards the end of the village. Cross the main road close to Hotel Agomer (Penìa) and take the dirt road that flanks Hotel Villa Rosella. Cross the wooden bridge to reach the opposite bank of Avisio river. The route (trail sign no. 605) enters the woods, closely following the watercourse, and alternating short ramps with flat stretches. Climb up the valley until coming across Passo Fedaia’s provincial road, nearby "Pènt de Giaveisc " bridge. Follow the roadway for about 1 km up to "Pènt da Udaer" bridge. Leave the main road and proceed on your right on the easy dirt road that, running along an aggregate quarry, leads to "Pian Trevisan" ("Ciamp Trusan/Trujan"), where Villetta Maria is located. The size and verticality of imposing "Gran Vernel" take your breath away and maintain constant shade. For the return, from the hotel, filter in Passo Fedaia’s provincial road and follow it for about fifty metres. At the third hairpin bend, take the forest road n. 8 "Agarei", off to the left. The route ascends with constant gradient for about 1.5 km. At the crossroads, turn left and follow the downhill path that later becomes "Strèda de Treve", towards the settlements of "Vera" and "Lorenz". Pass through the hamlet of Penìa and eventually reconnect with the main road and return to the starting point.
