6 - Ascent to the Salt dela volp
<p>This is the classic hike that leads to a viewpoint, the Salt dela volp in our case. The 'volp' is, of course, the fox, a wild animal typical of alpine areas, quite common in these parts, but difficult to encounter if not by chance, especially in winter. The panoramic viewpoint repays the effort made to reach it: in fact, it affords a wide panorama over the Costa basin and the southern part of the plateau, as far as the Pasubio massif. The hike is suitable for everyone, and is also recommended for families with children (+ 6 years).</p>
<p>One of the quality points of this route is the beautiful forest environment in which it takes place, namely the dense spruce forest covering the southern slope of Monte Cornetto. The path, which is predominantly a cart track used in times gone by for logging (transporting timber downhill), gradually climbs the slope, diagonally, leading the hiker to the area above the Costa area. It poses no particular difficulty. Near our destination we find Fontanelle, beside the former ski slope, where a characteristic fountain allows us to stop and refresh ourselves. The viewpoint is close by. It is a rocky hump, visible from the valley due to the presence of a tricolour flag maintained there by the Promocosta association. A bench allows us to admire the panorama while sitting comfortably.</p>
