39 - Piccoli tour

Piccoli is a characteristic and pretty alpine village in the Lavarone area, situated on the steep slope that descends into the deep Astico valley. Its origins are linked to the ancient road called 'dell'Ancino di là', a cartroad (also known as 'Imperiala') that connected southern Tyrol with the Republic of Venice. Nearby, in the deep cavern of Còvelo di Rio Malo, the bishop's duty was levied.

The walk is short but has many points of interest. Worth seeing, in the initial stretch (with a short diversions), is the deep crevasse of the Spaccata, then the characteristic Dazio village, the Còvelo di Rio Malo (a cavity that can be reached by means of a metal ladder) and the beautiful and original little church of Piccoli, dedicated to the Madonna di La Salette, built in the 19th century on a large landslide boulder.
