26 - Pioverna tour
<p>Pioverna alta is a wide meadowy hump, located at an altitude of 1770 m, above the Passo Coe pass. It is one of the most suggestive places on the Alpe Cimbra, offering a 360° panorama that captures the most beautiful peaks of southern Trentino. It is first and foremost an alpine hut, normally grazed from June to September.</p>
<p>Bitter fighting took place on this high ground during the First World War. It was the Austrian front line, located a short distance from the Italian front line. A hundred years later, signs of the furious bombardment of May 1915, when the entire area was the scene of the first stages of the Spring Offensive, are still discernible on the pastures. Hundreds of men were killed on this terrain.</p>
