Volo Libero Trentino
Among the many sites Trentino can offer airsports enthusiasts and, indeed, all nature lovers in search of awe-inspiring surroundings, we would like to suggest one in particular, Vetriolo Terme, in the Valsugana Valley, which has been the base for twenty years now of VOLO LIBERO TRENTINO. The over 2000 metres of the Cima Panarotta peak offer an awesome view of the Brenta Dolomites, and much of the north-eastern Alps, as well as the underlying Valsugana Valley, with its beautiful lakes of Caldonazzo and Levico to the south.
A much appreciated skiing centre, the mountain of Vetriolo also provides an extensive range of sports and recreational facilities and opportunities. The extreme tip, in the Valsugana Valley, of the wild and marvellous Lagorai mountain range, besides the views it also offers excellent airsports and cross-country opportunities, even in the less favourable months.
The local "Volo Libero Trentino" club has equipped a new take-off site at Vetriolo Terme, at an altitude of about 1500 metres towards the south, with a platform for hang-gliding and a natural slope for paragliding. The special location enables some breathtaking flights, even in winter and, above all, allows flying with northerly winds as well: a true rarity for the Alpine chain!
Next to this take-off point, with a huge car park and a large area for setting up hang-gliders and opening the sails, there's a nice and convenient refreshment point called "Maso al Vetriolo Vecchio", run by Francesco, who's always willing to provide weather and flight info over the phone (call 0461 701564).
The official landing point is at Barco di Levico, operated by the "Volo Libero Trentino" club; a huge field in the middle of the valley, with wind sleeves and another large car park.
