Festival in the "Ciajeole" district
Kiosks with typical specialities, rustic taverns, dancing and folk music enliven one of Moena's oldest neighbourhoods for two days of party
"Ciajeòle" is the oldest neighbourhood of Moena. Its name derives from the Ladin word "ciajea", the room where in ancient times people used to make the cheese. Among the barns, houses and courtyards of the picturesque district of the Fairy of the Dolomites, kiosks and rustic taverns are set up for the tasting of Ladin specialities, primarily "Puzzone di Moena". All to the accompaniment of cheerful folk music. For the occasion, it is possible to visit the Madonnina church, an octagonal Baroque-style temple belonging to the Sommavilla family, dating back to 1713, with a valuable wooden altar and altarpiece by Giovanni Felicetti.
Saturday 6 July from 3 p.m.: snack with "fortaie" (delicious fried pastry in the characteristic shape of a snail enriched by cranberry jam), sandwiches and homemade cakes. Sunday 7 July: aperitif in the little square from 11.00 a.m., kitchen opening from 12 noon, afternoon snack, dinner and live music from 7 p.m.
Organised by the "Grop de Ciajeole" volunteers. The district can be reached on foot from the village. On the two days of the festival, the road from the "Dante" fountain to the Madonnina church is closed to vehicular traffic. There is no parking in the vicinity.
