European Ski Cross Cup
Two days of competition at the "Costabella" park at the San Pellegrino Pass, the only Italian stage of the season, decisive for the overall classification of the European Cup
After the Ski Cross World Cup, Val di Fassa and the San Pellegrino Ski Area will be back in the spotlight with the four-day continental circuit which, on 15 and 16 February and 7 and 8 March, will stop at the "Costabella" park, the official training venue of the Italian national team thanks to the "Piste Azzurre" project coordinated by FISI (Italian Winter Sports Federation). For the sixth and eighth acts of the men's and women's European Cup, before the finals on 18 and 19 March in Reiteralm in Austria, there will be about one hundred athletes from a dozen nations. Among the Italians, at the starting gates are expected the Fassa athletes Jannes Debertol (Ski Team Fassa), Nathalie Bernard (Ski Team Fassa) and Kristian Gabrielli (FassaActive), together with team-mates Simone Deromedis, Paolo Piccolo, Andrea Chesi, Filippo Rossi and Filippo Zamboni and some young athletes of the Trentino Committee, among which Desi Rizzoli and Sofia Disertori. Who will be able to unleash determination, technical skills and strategy to get onto the podium?
The programme for both challenges includes the qualifying rounds starting at 10 a.m., followed by the elimination heats until the final, which will decide the winner of the day and award the Moena-Predazzo social dairy trophy. The organisation is entrusted to the well-oiled machine of the Monti Pallidi Sports Union of Moena, led by Carlo Ganz, supported, as in previous editions, by the Trentino Committee and FISI with the staff of the continental group. The public will be able to watch the races from the edge of the piste, which can be reached from the pass by the "Costabella" four-seater chairlift.
