DoloMyths Run Skyrace
Spectacular high mountain race that completes the triptych of the DoloMyths Run, from Canazei to the 3152 metres of Piz Boè and back, part of the prestigious circuit Golden Trail National Series
For an entire weekend, Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 July, Canazei becomes the Alpine capital of mountain running with the DoloMyths Run. For the 26th edition, the famous race, part of the prestigious Golden Trail National Series circuit, changes format again. The Organising Committee is once again proposing multiple challenges, over different distances and routes, to meet the demands of a pool of enthusiasts that grows larger every year. After Saturday's debut of DoloMyths Run Fassa Trail and Dolomyth Run 12K Trail, the following day is dedicated, as per tradition, to the queen DoloMyths Run Skyrace. Limited to 900 entrants, the competition will be staged on the well-established 22 km route, of which 10 uphill and 12 downhill, with a positive elevation gain of 1,750 m. The route starts in Canazei and arrives at Piz Boè, at an altitude of 3,152 m, crossing the legendary screes of Forcella Pordoi and Val Lastiès. In addition to the absolute classification, in this edition one will be reserved for under-23 runners.
The devotees of the discipline, also known as "sky runners", will compete in extreme conditions, tackling rugged trails, steep slopes and the increasing thinness of the air. The records to be broken are those of Angermund Stian, in 2021, with 1h 51'37" and Judith Wyder, also in 2021, with 2h 14'34". The start is at 8.15 a.m. from the central square in Canazei. The gates at Forcella Podoi and Boè Refuge close at 10.30 a.m. and 11.30 a.m. respectively, while the maximum time to cross the finish line in the village is 5.30 hours.
The international success of Canazei's skyrace is also linked to the efficient organising committee headed by Diego Salvador and the support of a sports company of excellence such as Salomon. Other events are planned around Saturday's race: from Friday to Sunday, the expo area will be set up in the square "Piaz G. Marconi"; on Friday and Saturday at 6.30 p.m. there will be the official presentations of the three races with a technical briefing, while on Sunday at 2 p.m. there will be the prize-giving ceremony with a party.
