Marcialonga Running Coop
A double challenge of 21 and 26 km for the most eagerly awaited running event for locals from Fiemme and Fassa and international runners. A spectacular route, inspired by the famous cross-country skiing race
On Saturday, 6 September, the spotlight turns to the Marcialonga Running Coop, the grand finale of the Marcialonga event series. Runners will take on a double challenge, following a route inspired by the legendary cross-country ski race. Two distances, a large crowd lining the route, one thrilling experience: 26 km from Moena to Cavalese - the classic course; 21 km to Masi di Cavalese - the half marathon option. One of the event’s unique features is the option to compete in a relay race. Teams of three (male, female, or mixed) can complete the route in three sections: 10 km, 8 km, and 8 km, with a portion of the registration fee donated to a charity of their choice. In past editions, Kenyan runners have dominated, while Italian women have shone in the individual race. Meanwhile, Northern European teams often claim victory in the relay.
The race kicks off at 4:30 p.m. from the square "Piaz de Sotegrava", in the heart of Moena. Runners weave through some of the most breathtaking locations in the Fassa and Fiemme Valleys, passing: the ski jumping stadium in "Stalimen", a future venue for the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics; the charming villages of Predazzo, Ziano, and Panchià, along the scenic cycling and pedestrian path; the cross-country skiing centre at Lago di Tesero, another Olympic site; the half marathon finish line at Masi di Cavalese; the final 5 km uphill climb to Cavalese, where Miss Soreghina will be waiting to welcome the champions.
At the Running Expo Village in Moena, athletes and spectators can enjoy live music, oversized traditional games, and children’s entertainment. The cheering zone at Forno di Moena (4:30-5:30 p.m.), featuring a live DJ set outside Bar/Pasticceria "Reinhard", will keep spirits high as the runners race past. After crossing the finish line, the celebrations continue with a pasta party, award ceremonies, and live music!
