The imposing Rocca di Riva, an ancient medieval castle in Riva del Garda, is home to the MAG – Museo dell’Alto Garda. It offers dedicated spaces for temporary exhibits, the Invento workshop itinerary designed for younger visitors and families, and three permanent sections devoted to the Art Gallery, Archaeology and History.
In the Art Gallery, you can admire the landscapes painted by 19th century artists inspired by the beauty of views of Lake Garda, with works by artists such as Pietro Ricchi, Vincenzo Vela and Francesco Hayez. The important Archaeology section houses Copper Age statues, remnants of the pile-dwelling civilisation of Lake Ledro, objects from pre-Roman and Roman culture and epigraphs and artefacts found in the Alto Garda area.
