Museo della Banda sociale
The Banda Sociale, the oldest cultural association in Perugia still operating, is deeply rooted in the social and civil fabric of the town and is part of the cultural heritage of the community. Its history is inextricably intertwined with the history of Pergine of the second nineteenth and twentieth centuries and every fragment of daily life has been and is underlined by the notes of the Band.
The presence of the musical body in Pergine is documented in the early nineteenth century with the "Banda dei Dilettanti", the "Società Filarmonica" of 1868 and the "Fanfara Perginese" of 1885/86. In February 1900, together with the members of the Fanfara, a promoter committee was formed, which on 22 April 1900, in the first general meeting, founded the "Social Band" and which contacted Maestro Giovanni Serra for the direction of the new musical complex.
Thus begins the history of the Social Band, whose charter will be approved on 6 March 1901 by the Imperial Royal Lieutenancy of Innsbruck.
